Gulf County Emergency Management has issued a mandatory evacuation for people in coastal areas and mobile homes.
Cape San Blas is a highly vulnerable area with the western part of the peninsula easily cut off with flooding or storm surge.
Most people are gone or quickly boarding up before heading away from the storm. Several roads and neighborhoods are in low lying areas in the county and just feet away from the water, making early evacuation even more important.
Gulf County schools will be closed Tuesday through Friday.
