Three months after a murder in Millville, the Panama City Police Department is still looking for leads. Someone shot Michael Guynn at his used furniture store exactly three months ago, on June 2. Guynn owned NU 2 U Furniture Store in Millville.

Although a few months have past, Captain Mark Aviles says that does not mean the case has gone cold. He says the department gets new leads every week.

"We're not where we want to be on this homicide after four months, but we still have leads coming in even today. We have detectives out chasing down different leads and trying to find different folks," Aviles said.

He says it could be the smallest piece of information that could help the police department solve this crime. He says sometimes people call in with some information that they do not think will help much, but it ends up being the missing piece to the puzzle. Aviles asks if someone has any information to contact the Panama City Police Department.

No this isn't 48hrs and it has been over 48 days for a family with no closure. Be respectful of that and the victims rights here. Law enforcement are civil servants and in a murder investigation...specifically there to serve the interest of a victim and their family as well as the community. There is no need for a firewall mentality, lack of cooperation, or lack of communication with a family that has received no closure. "The losing a case mentality" is more often a blanket excuse for "not enough has been done" and we don't care to explain the why's. The media should never be the outlet informing a family in a murder investigation, and there should be regular communication from the agency assigned to the case as along as the case remains open. Most familys are not vigilante's, but want to be kept in the loop. So much of what goes on here is EGO, not the protection of pertinent information.

The police can only tell the family and media certain things or stand the chance to loose the case or a suspect and then that would be unprofessional and disapointing. This isn't 48 hours on TV and not all murders are solved as fast as the family or the police would like.

I dont know how anyone could call in with a small piece of information if they wanted to. The police are very hard to communicate with, won't return phone calls, and has not kept the family in the loop on this investigation. Very unprofessional and disappointing to say the least.
