Enrollment for the fall 2010 semester at The Florida State University Panama City has increased by 10.3% from the same time last year. The total fall 2010 headcount is 1,220 as compared to 1,106 for fall 2009.

“A 10% enrollment increase is certainly great news for our campus,” stated FSU Panama City Dean Ken Shaw. “More students are choosing FSU Panama City because they see this as a great opportunity to earn a degree recognized as one of the best in the nation while also being able to attend a campus where instructors are accessible to students and a commitment to student success is demonstrated by the faculty and staff every day of the year. That translates into great benefits for students which is the most important benchmark.”

An increased interest in online degree programs in Computer Science has contributed to the enrollment increase. The Computer Science B.S. program offered by FSU Panama City is one of only a small number of online programs in the nation that is ABET accredited. ABET, Inc. is the nation’s leading accrediting organization for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. An online Computer Science B.A. degree is also available.

The Florida State University is now ranked 47th in the current listing of top 50 public universities in the United States. All of the more than 30 degree programs at FSU Panama City provide students the same nationally recognized degree offered by the main campus in Tallahassee.
