Panama City Beach-- A Panama City Beach family is left homeless after their trailer burned down Monday morning. The state fire marshal concludes the fire originated in the breaker box and the family has lost everything but their lives.

"The smoke was just so thick you couldn't even see in front of your face at all. Very, very scary," said Cynthia Patton.

Cynthia Patton never thought she'd be spending her Labor Day holiday, or any day for that matter, sifting through what's left of her house.

"There's nothing. I just went through my bedroom and there's just nothing salvageable at all," said Patton.

Around 5 o'clock Monday morning Cynthia and her boyfriend woke up in the Bonita Avenue home to the sight of the bedroom wall on fire.

"It was totally engulfed in flames, so basically I just had to run through flames to wake up my son and his friend to get out," said Patton.

The four of them were able to escape the burning house with minor injuries but the family dog didn't make it out in time.

"I tried to run back in and get him but there was just no way," added Patton.

With nothing but ashes left, she’s just thankful everybody got out alive and that the Red Cross is helping them.

"We've put them up in a motel on the beach and usually that's for three nights and we've also given them what's called a credit card and they can go buy food and clothing as well as shoes for all of the family," said Red Cross Volunteer, Cathy Taylor.

But Cynthia Patton’s not where she’ll go from there.

"I have no idea. I can't even think that far. I guess my thought process is I just have to rent a dumpster tear it down and start again because I do own the land," Patton said.

But the mobile home was not insured. Red cross volunteers are literally doing everything they can, but say they still need your help.

"They had nothing. They had no shoes or anything. If you'll notice, Catherine is barefoot, so guess where her shoes are? I offered mine but I had the wrong size," said Red Cross Volunteer, Carole Bird.

If you would like to help Cynthia and her two sons, ages 13 and 5, you can contact her through her mother’s work phone at (850) 233-4560. She does not have her own phone because all of their cell phones were left in the home.
