Jackson County-Blue Springs Recreational Area wrapped-up the summer Monday with another record setting season.
More than 38,000 people visited the popular Jackson County attraction this year, doubling the number of visitors since 2006.
Park officials are planning to open it year-round in the near future.
Those who spent their Labor Day at Blue Springs Recreational Area were unaware it was the last day it would be open this year.
Fountain visitor Jasper Miller says, "we usually come here 10, 15 times a year. It's clean, they stay on top of everything, you got a good concession stand up here, it's just an all-around, good place for the kids."
Natalie Yoder adds, "it's just like the beach, it's pretty close to home, the water's so clear it seems like you can drink it!"
The first magnitude spring draws many visitors like Nancy and Clark Hermann who brought their sons down from Dothan.
"We knew Memorial Day would probably be really crowded at the beach so we thought most of our family's here anyway so it was kind of a no-brainer."
"I appreciate the lifeguards being here to watch the kids in case I didn't see them jump in or fall in so I do appreciate that."
Their son, Grayson, says, "it's fun!"
His brother, Jonathan, adds, "I like that there's a cave and there's a diving board and it's fun to jump off it and do tricks."
Jackson County Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Hatcher says they've had another record season with more than 38,000 people.
"We've been open roughly 90 days this summer and at 38,000, that's a little better than 400 and something a day."
Hatcher says they've doubled their attendance since 2006.
"We were expecting to get a lot of people if they ever shut the beach down but they never did. We're just pleased with what we've been doing here."
With their high attendance numbers, he says it's inevitable they will open year-round in the near future.
Hatcher says the county just received a $135,000 state grant to make several park improvements before opening next year.
