Marianna-Twin theaters are no longer a common sight as multiplex cinemas have taken over the film industry.
The Marianna Twin Cinemas is one of the few remaining.
And it's the only theater where Marianna residents can watch a movie.
But they'll have to go elsewhere, for at least the next two months.

You won't be seeing any movies playing inside the Marianna Twin Cinemas for a while.
Employees spent Tuesday unbolting the theater seats from the floor.
The theater is getting a long-overdue renovation.
"This was our first theater. The theater's been here for quite a while, nothing lasts forever," says owner Bill Homer.

Homer, who is from Jacksonville, used to own a chain of movie theaters in Florida and Georgia.
In today's world of multiplexes, Homer realizes this twin cinema is rare.
"Marianna's not big enough to have a big theater, you'll find a few small towns around with twin theaters, but there's not that many left."

Homer decided to re-buy his first theater last year.
He says it's been at least 15 years since it was renovated.
"We're basically going to just rehab the whole facility, the auditoriums will have new drapes, new seats, we'll have a new concession stand, new tile, new walls, we're going to replace the lobby ceiling."

Everything will be re-painted.
All of the bathrooms will be refurbished and modified to be handicapped accessible.
The job will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but Homer says it's necessary and will provide long-term benefits.

"The public responded to our renovations, our business increased, it's only going to be two screens but it's going to be brand new, shiny, enjoyable, comfortable and friendly."
And he's hoping movie fans will be able to enjoy the shiny, new theater by November 5th.

Homer says he also plans to expand the facility to four movie screens sometime in the near future.
