Friends and family are relieved after a missing man from Panama City turned up in a hospital in Brazil. Horica Ionescu was located in a Rio De Janeiro hospital Wednesday night. Athorities say it appears he was severly beaten.
The 2006 Mosley High School alumni graduated from The University of Florida this spring and moved to Rio a few months ago to teach English to Brazilian children.
Last Thursday, his friends lost contact wit him, which is unusual since Ionescu was conscientious about regularly communicating through social media. His host family said they hadn't seen or heard from him either. A couple of friends created a Facebook page to spread the word and generate some leads.
Wednesday, friends discovered Ionescu was in the hospital. His mom spent the day renewing her passport so she can travel to Brazil tomorrow to find out what happened to her son.
