Panama City - Investigators with the state fire marshal's office say they still have not pinpointed the cause of a fire that destroyed a Bay County Sheriff's Sergeant's home on Tuesday night.
This morning friends of Neil and Glenda Delmar helped sift through the ashes to recover some of their personal items and mementos. Investigators continued their work as well, focusing on a number of area's including an apartment in the back yard of the home. That's where witnesses say the fire started around 7:00 p.m.
Firefighters were hampered in their efforts by a propane tank that was spewing flames and some of Delmar's discharging ammunition inside of the home.
No one was hurt. No one was home at the time. Neil Delmar was working and Glenda Delmar was in Pensacola attending the closing on her mother's house. They'd sold it so she could live in the backyard apartment. Her dog died in the fire.
Bay County Sheriff's Office is setting up a fundraiser through a local bank and will have the details for that on Thursday.
