You can't drive across Escambia Bay at Pensacola on Interstate 10 because the bridge is washed out.
Hurricane Ivan has destroyed a quarter-mile section of the eastbound section of the bridge.
The concrete was pushed up and is now partially in the water. The westbound section is still standing, but is damaged.
The alternate route would be Highway 90, which also crosses the bay north of the I-10 bridge.
