Gov. Jeb Bush says in the last month he's visited almost every Florida county because of some sort of storm damage. Friday, he offered state support to Bay County officials.

The governor spoke briefly as did Sen. Bill Nelson at Friday’s Emergency Operations Center briefing. With estimated damages countywide of more than $23 million, both say it could have been worse.

The governor says he will ask for a special session of Congress sometime in December to determine how the state's budget can handle all the need. Right now he's taking money from the state's general fund to help out agencies overburdened by the incredible need after all these storms.

The governor and Sen. Nelson spent Friday in northwest Florida surveying the damage and offering their support. The governor says 2000 National Guardsmen and women are currently deployed in the Panhandle.
