The plan for a new federal courthouse in Panama City could be delayed two years. The site on 11th Street off Massalina Bayou was just approved this year and the tentative plan is to start construction within the next four years.

Tuesday, federal judges voted to delay court construction projects for two years in an effort to cut costs. The decision specifically affects 42 courthouse projects around the country, including Panama City, Florida.

Since the project here was not expected to begin for a couple of years, it may not affect the plans, but it could add two years to the start date.

0ne-thousand jobs were cut last year, and even with the new project cuts 4,800 people who work for federal courts could still lose their job in the next year.
