There's still a lot of hurricane debris on the beach. County officials are asking beachgoers to use open beach access points to avoid that debris.
South Walton's shoreline suffered moderate damage, but most buildings remained intact and have reopened for business.
Authorities believe newer, better construction withstood the high winds and the storm surge and lessened the impact.
