Ten officers with the Panama City Beach Police Department left once again to help in a hurricane disaster area.
Just one month ago, the officers deployed to south Florida to help the victims of Hurricane Charley. Sunday morning, they left for Santa Rosa County to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan. This time, the officers will assist other police departments to prevent looting.
Maj. Dave Humphreys with the Panama City Beach Police Department says they're ready to help because it's been given to us in the past.
"We're probably like a lot of other communities that have been hit by hurricanes before and received help and offer our help during times of need for other communities. We received the call from the state EOC and they asked for 10 officers to be deployed to Santa Rosa County and we did so this morning."
The department says the officers will be deployed for seven days.
