An estimated 500 National Guard soldiers from throughout the Panhandle who make up the 3rd Battalion began traveling to Orlando late Sunday night.

Soldiers from Panama City, Pensacola, Chipley, Defuniak Springs and Tallahassee will set up in the Orlando Civic Center to carry out humanitarian missions and provide security to central Florida residents recovering from this weekend's latest storm, Hurricane Jeanne.

The soldiers plan to be in central Florida for seven to 10 days.
