Hunting season has arrived, but before you head out the Bay County Sheriff's Office wants to make sure you keep an eye on more than just your target.

Hunters often time use all terrain vehicles, but this year authorities are warning you to chain them up.

ATVs are known for their speed and easy maneuvering, which is why they're so popular during hunting season, but they're also popular among burglars for that same reason.

During hunting season, Bay County sheriff's deputies say the number of stolen ATVs skyrockets, so this year they want to make sure you keep them safe.

Ruth Sasser, BCSO Spokeswoman, said, "Make it more difficult, make it hard, make it more effort to take your ATV. Chain them to something. If you're going to leave them by a trailer, chain them to the trailer; don't leave them in your yard."
