Candidates Debate

By  |

The Gulf Coast Community College Democrats and Republicans are sponsoring Monday’s forum. Candidates for the property appraiser, the sheriff and the superintendent will discuss their policies from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Language and Literature Building.

Students say the opportunity to bring candidates to the school also demonstrates the importance of reaching out to young voters.

Hillary Burd is a student democrat at the school and worked with others to help organize the event.

She says, "As the Gulf Coast Community College community we know that a lot of people don't understand what the local candidates stand form and in my opinion, the local candidates are just as important as the national candidates because they're working for us to know what's going on in our county,” Burd explains.

The forum is open to anyone who wants to attend and it will be simulcast on WKGC at 90.7 FM or 1480 AM radio.
