Voters Casting Ballots Early

If you want to vote early in General Election, you can if you live in Florida. The Sunshine State is one of a handful of states which allows you to cast your ballot up to two weeks before the General Election.

"If you're ready to vote and you're an informed voter, just come down to our office and vote," said Bay County Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen.

If you vote early and run into a problem, it's much easier to get it straightened out before the election than it is on Election Day.

"We can solve the issue. You have time to come in and we can address whatever the problem is early. On Election Day there's a lot less time to solve problems," said Andersen.

The line for early voting formed around the Bay County Elections Center before it opened Monday morning. Officials are expecting 800 to 1000 voters a day to vote early. That's in addition to more than 16,000 absentee ballots that have been sent out.

"It's much simpler. You can come in, vote and get on about your way," said Diane Walker.

"I'd already made up my mind about the issues, so there was no need to wait till Election Day and listen to more of this so-called politicking they're doing," said Gordon Stokes.

You CAN take a sample ballot with you into the voting booth if it will help you vote more quickly. If you have any other questions, call you local supervisor of elections.

In Bay County, the supervisor of elections’ phone number is 784-6100. The Elections Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 till 6 and Saturdays from 8 till 5.

Early voting is taking place at the Elections Center on Mosley Drive off Highway 77 in Lynn Haven. If you wait till Election Day to vote, you must do so at your particular precinct.
