Ken Jennings' incredible winning streak on Jeopardy is now over.
As gasps sounded from the audience, the 30-year-old software engineer from Salt Lake City, Utah lost after 74 wins and earnings of $2.5 million.
Jennings was leading going into final Jeopardy question Tuesday afternoon, but he didn't know the correct answer to this question in the category of “Business and Industry: most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year.”
The correct answer is, “H and R Block.”
Jennings was stumped and for the first time since his first appearance on Jeopardy back on June 2 his winning streak was ended.
Jeopardy is seen each afternoon at 4:30 p.m. on WJHG-TV, NewsChannel Seven.
