The numbers are in on the devastation Hurricane Ivan wreaked on Pensacola Beach.
According to an initial assessment by Escambia County building inspectors, more than 80-percent of the homes in that community have been deemed uninhabitable.
In an initial survey of 975 of the estimated four-thousand beach properties, building inspectors found that 869 buildings were destroyed or suffered major damage. Of those, 803 were considered uninhabitable.
Other areas of ERscambia County, including Perdido Key, Grande Lagoon, Star Lake and Bayshore Road, show damage as bad or worse than the Pensacola Beach area itself.
