Many area voters aren't taking any chances with their ballot. They're voting early or by absentee.
Bay County Elections Supervisor Mark Andersen says everything has been going very smoothly since early voting began this past Monday.
More than 6,000 people have already taken advantage of the early voting option.
Another 25,000 voters have requested absentee ballots. Andersen says 12,000 of those have been returned. That's better than a 15 percent voter turn-out so far for Bay County, and we still have more than a week until Election Day.
Anderson says in all there are over 101,000 registered voters in Bay County. "It makes life much easier for our poll workers, who work so hard to begin with, on Election Day, by having this added pressure removed from the polling places. It really is going to help the voting process."
To vote early, you have to go to your Supervisor of Elections office for your county. Here in Bay County, the office is located on Mosley Drive in Lynn Haven about a half block west of Mosley High School.
The office is open for early voting Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The office is open on Saturday for early voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
