A Panama City Beach neighborhood, Bay County and a state regulatory agency could be headed for a showdown.
The Florida Public Service Commission, which regulates the Bayside Mobile Home Park Utility, heard arguments Tuesday to drop Bayside from its control.
Earlier this year, the PSC approved a rate hike by Bayside Utility. Residents are now paying almost double what the neighboring community pays for interim rates.
Since then, the residents have tried to get Bay County to take control from the PSC to regulate the utility, but even support from the county could not get the PSC to let go control at Tuesday’s meeting.
The commissioners voted to maintain control of the utility and continue hearings about setting the final rates.
