Bay County commissioners have come one step closer to figuring out what will be done with the main public library on the Downtown City Marina.
Bay County Commissioner Gerry Girvin got the ball rolling.
“Financing $8 million reconstruction of the main library."
That idea got the issue off dead center. Whether or not it's completely torn down or given a facelift, it will be up to a committee appointed down the road.
Funding for either renovating or rebuilding projects would come from revenue bonds amounting up to $8 million. This would eliminate the need for a public referendum.
What is certain is the library will stay at its present location at the marina. The next County Commission meeting dealing with the library will be held on January 4.
