Man Charged in Summertime Shooting

Panama City police have arrested a man suspected in a drive-by shooting that happened back in July 27.

Twenty-eight-year-old Algeny Demare Pitts is being charged with three counts of attempted murder.

The charges stem from this incident at the Macedonia Housing project off West 17th Street.

Investigators say Pitts pulled up next to a car near the corner of 17th Street and Flower Avenue in St. Andrew.

Eighteen-year-old Darious Beachem and 23-year-old Yashica Lewis were sitting in the car.

Police say Pitts got into an argument with Beachem, pulled a gun, and started shooting. Beachem was shot in the head. He was treated and released from a local hospital.

Pitts also reportedly fired at another vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Fredrick Trammell, who was not hurt.

Pitts is being held in the Bay County Jail on $200,000 bond.
