Final Leg of State Road 77 Four-Laning

Construction begins the week of January 3 on the third and final phase of four-lane construction for SR 77 in Bay County.

Construction crews from C. W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. will begin work on the $12.4 million, 2.6-mile stretch of roadway from the Bailey Bridge in Lynn Haven north to CR 2300, the Steam Plant Road.

While most of the work will take place along side the present two-lane SR 77, motorists can expect intermittent delays.

The corridor will be four-laned with a 22’ raised median, curb and gutter, bike lanes, and sidewalks.

Intersection improvements, safety and drainage upgrades, fencing, retention ponds, signing, signalization and pavement marking will also enhance the urban corridor.

A new four-lane bridge will be constructed over Fanning Bayou.

Construction is expected to be completed by summer of 2006. Access to business and residences will be maintained.

This is the third and final phase of a three-phase project to multi-lane SR 77 from the Bailey Bridge north to the Washington County line. Construction on the road from CR 2300 to the Washington/Bay county line is progressing well.

Motorists are reminded to use caution while traveling through the 13-mile construction zone.
