The deadline for seniors and people with disabilities to sign up or renew their Medicare Drug Discount Cards is coming up.
Friday is the final day to apply for the cards and receive up to 600 dollars in credit for free prescriptions.
The cards were made available through Medicare to help save elderly residents and others up to 25-percent on their medications. State officials say thousands of eligible Floridians still haven’t applied, perhaps because of reports that the process is complicated.
But David Arciaga with the Florida Shine Program say you just need some basic information. “As long as you have that information available, it will be very quick. You know, again, the income, the list of medications the dosages, the manufacturer if possible and then also what they are paying right now. Especially people that are paying full-retail price for their medications. They won’t find a better deal out there.”
If you have any questions regarding the program or just want to sign up, you can call 1-800-medicare.
Again, the deadline to register for the drug discount card for this year is Friday.
