Authorities in northwest Florida arrested an Efland, North Carolina man Thursday morning accused of robbing a Durham bank last week.
Raymond J. Callaway, 36, was arrested Thursday morning after a chase in Holmes and Walton Counties.
A Bonifay police officer stopped Callaway for a traffic violation, but while the officer was checking to see if Callaway had any warrants, he allegedly sped off.
Callaway is charged with the November 5 robbery of the Central Carolina Bank in Durham.
The suspect in that robbery picked up a withdrawal slip, then waited in line. After approaching a teller's window, the man handed the teller a note demanding money in certain denominations. No weapon was seen, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Callaway was identified as the result of tips called in to Durham CrimeStoppers, police reported.
He is being held in the Holmes County Jail in Bonifay pending extradition back to Durham.
