Project Playground will be a 17,000 square foot activity center near the village of Baytown Warf. It will include an obstacle course, rock climbing wall and an amphitheater.
So far project organizers have raised $110,000 through fundraisers, corporate sponsorships and private donations.
They need about $90,000 more.
Deborah Hale of Sandestin says, “This is one of the fastest growing areas in the state of Florida and there really isn't a playground that certainly is this large, plus the fact that we're talking to kids and the architects talk to kids and the planners talk to kids and got their ideas, so this truly is the children's playground.
Sandestin officials hope to open the playground by this spring.
