Condo developers are quickly moving in on some valuable waterfront property in Panama City.
The Panama City Planning Board approved rezoning requests for three large waterfront parcels along old Business 98 in Millville and on Beach Drive in downtown Panama City.
The Beach Drive property includes Tibbett’s Boatworks on Massilina Bayou. The developer wants to build a five to nine-story condo on the site.
The other two rezoning requests were at two marinas on East Business 98 near the Sixth Street bridge over Watson Bayou. Those properties include Snug Harbor and Gulf Marina. Two separate developers have plans for condos on the two marina properties.
Planning Board members tabled a request by a condo developer to change the land use of a vacant lot on West Highway 98 next to the House of Chan and Canopies.
At least a dozen angry homeowners from the St. Andrew area voiced their concern about a condo going up in their neighborhood. City staff recommended the board deny the request.
