Relative of Local Candidate Arrested

The state attorney's race was one of the most ruthless campaigns in local political history. Now, one of the issues raised by the losing candidate, Sister Blackmon-Milligan, has resurfaced.

Bay County sheriff's deputies have arrested 24-year-old Ryan Meadows, charging him with burglary and grand theft.

The charges stem from a break-in on North Lagoon Drive at the beach on October 25 about a week before the election.

Meadows is the nephew of newly elected State Attorney Steve Meadows.

During the campaign, Blackmon-Milligan accused Meadows of showing preferential treatment to a relative who'd been arrested.

In all likelihood Meadows will request a special prosecutor to handle this latest case.
