Groups met Thursday at the Destin Commons Mall to promote holiday traffic safety.
From November to January of last year, Okaloosa law enforcement officers arrested over 100 drunk drivers and responded to 47 accidents with injuries. They hope to keep those numbers down this year.
Charlie Morris, Okaloosa County Sheriff, says, "We want to make sure that people are aware that we're gonna be out in force enforcing seat belt laws, child restraint laws and we're gonna be out looking for that impaired driver that’s out there. We're gonna make sure we try to get as many of the impaired drivers of the road as possible.”
The increased enforcement is part of the statewide "Buckle Up Florida" campaign.
