Honeywell Closes

After 17 years of service, the Lynn Haven branch of the allied signal-Honeywell plant is closing. About 220 Honeywell factory workers will have to look for a new job by the end of the year.

Honeywell manufactures brake pads for GM, Ford and Chrysler cars and trucks. The company is also shutting down a site in Cleveland, Tennessee, and laying off employees at their Troy, Michigan plant.

Honeywell officials say if Lynn Haven factory workers stay until the plant closes this December they will get a month's severance pay.

Plus a weeks pay for every year they've worked at Honeywell. A counselor has been sent to the Lynn Haven plant to relieve factory workers' anxiety and give them financial advice.
