Panama City Soldier to Get Bronze Star

An Army intelligence officer from Panama City is being honored with a Bronze Star for his service in Iraq.

Lt. Col. Altrus “Ace” Campbell received the honor at a Panama City church.

A 20-year veteran of the military, the 44-year-old Campbell served as a part-time Special Forces chaplain in Iraq.

Campbell said about 30 people, including the president, know the reason he is receiving the medal.

The award certificate vaguely says the medal is for “exceptionally meritorious service'' while working as the coalition intelligence planner and liaison to the Central Intelligence Agency in support of the Iraq conflict.
