There is some good news for spouses of military members.
Husbands or wives who have to quit their civilian jobs to follow their transferred military spouse are eligible for unemployment benefits here in Florida.
The Florida Legislature passed the bill last year, but it only applies to military families transferred from Florida to a duty assignment out-of-state.
If you're going from another state "to" Florida, you'd have to apply in the state you left, but only a dozen or so states have the have the same type law.
If you have questions, contact the nearest unemployment office or your new base's family support center.
