You've heard of the 12 Days of Christmas. A local church is teaming up with two businesses in sponsoring the 12-Cars of Christmas.

Crossbridge Church along with 19th Street Auto Sales and Professional Auto Body are giving away a car a day between now and Christmas eve.

The winners have already been chosen, they just don't know it. The vehicles are going to local under-privileged families. The businesses took nominations from local social service agencies and educators to determine who would most benefit from a free car.

The nominees had to have real transportation needs, and the means to handle the expense of owning a car.

The winners will receive a 10 to 15 year old vehicle that's been rebuilt, repainted, and even comes with a new c-d player. The two auto body shops did all the work on the cars.

Dave Lloyd of 19th Street Auto Sales is the Program Sponsor.

"We want to give a gift that's going to help people to break out of the cycle of poverty and to really make a difference in their lives. If you have a job, then you need to get to work and having a car will get you from point A to point B whenever you might not get there otherwise.”

Today's winner didn't want to be identified, but no doubt they were grateful for the gift. The 12 cars of Christmas will continue until Christmas Eve.

The church also has what it calls “Angel Food Ministries” to help deserving families get groceries at a reduced rate. If you have questions or would like more information you can log onto www.crossbridgepc.org
