Another longtime Bay County politician and constitutional officer has made the switch.
Bay County Clerk of Circuit Court Harold Bazzell has jumped from the Democratic to the Republican Party.
Bazzell filed the paperwork with the supervisor of election’s office on Monday, Valentine's Day.
Bazzell was first elected to the clerk’s office in 1980 and has been re-elected six times.
Bazzel, who openly supported Republican Gov. Jeb Bush during his election and re-election bids, said he has been the target of enormous pressure to switch parties.
What made him ready now was last week's election of Howard Dean as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Bazzel said.
