Members of the Coast Guard Station Panama City are searching the Gulf of Mexico for two people last seen in a 16-foot inflatable boat.
The man and woman, whose names were not released, are described as being in their 30s. Authorities say at least one is from the Panama City area.
Coast Guard officials say the couple left Mexico Beach around 2:00 Saturday afternoon. They were headed for a cook-out at Cape San Blas. Authorities say they were expected to arrive before dark, but never showed up. The Coast Guard was alerted around 8:45 Saturday night.
Authorities sent a 41-foot search and rescue vessel to the area, along with a Coast Guard auxiliary boat with volunteers onboard.
An aircraft out of Mobile was also expected to join the search.
