A tip from a citizen led Panama City police to an escaped inmate early Saturday morning. Perhaps it was the handcuffs that gave him away.
Eighteen-year-Old Jeremy Aultman of Panama City Beach was picked up around 7 a.m. in the area of East 6th Street and Hamilton Avenue in Panama City. He escaped from a jail transport van Friday afternoon.
A Corrections Corporation of America van was taking Aultman and a number of other inmates from the downtown jail facility to the jail annex in Bayou George.
Authorties say Aultman managed to unlock the van door near the intersection of Highway 98 and Cove Boulevard. He then kicked off his jail shoes and ran away.
Aultman was originally arrested for violating his probation on a resisting arrest charge.
