One Dies in Morning Rush Hour Accident

One person is dead and another in critical condition after an accident Monday morning on Highway 79, north of Panama City Beach.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 68-year-old Erna Edwards of Oxford, Alabama was driving north on Highway 79 about a mile south of West Bay.

A car driven by 18-year-old Anthony Attaway of Altha, Florida was heading south and swerved into her lane. The cars hit head-on.

Ms. Edwards was killed instantly. Attaway was thrown from his vehicle and is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Three passengers in Ms. Edwards car were taken to the hospital with what are being described as "non-life threatening" injuries.
