Cemetery Vandals Responsible for Major Damage

Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward to the anonymous caller who helps investigators identify the vandals who knocked down and broke approximately 40 grave markers at the historic Jesse Rogers Cemetery on US Highway 98 across from the Target store in Mary Esther.

The damage was discovered Sunday afternoon, February 20. Some of the damaged headstones date to the 19th century. Less extensive damage was discovered that same day at a second cemetery, Beal Memorial in Fort Walton Beach.

Anybody with information about these incidents should call Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at (850) 863-TIPS (863-8477) or toll-free at 1-888-654-TIPS.

Callers are never asked to reveal their identity. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards up to $1,000 for information that solves crimes, leads to the apprehension of wanted fugitives, or results in the recovery of stolen property or illegal narcotics.

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that relies on citizen donations. No taxpayer dollars are used in the reward fund.
