Elder Affairs Secretary Fired

Governor Jeb Bush has fired one of his department heads over allegations of sexual harassment. Terry White was appointed by the Governor in January of 2002 as Secretary of the Department of Elder Affairs.

A memo released by Bush’s lawyer says the Governor’s office received a sexual harassment complaint against White last Thursday. The memo says an investigation began immediately and included interviews with white, his senior staff and the people making the complaints.

Three female employees complained to the Governor’s office that White asked them for oral sex.

After the Governor’s lawyer said the allegations were credible, White was barred from entering the building where his office is located, and he had to turn in his keys and id card.

His personal belongings are being sent to him.

White won’t receive any vacation or sick leave pay out or retirement benefits while the case is under review.

Prior to his appointment as Secretary, White was Executive Director for Senior Solutions of Southwest Florida.
