South Florida Aircraft Engine Company Moving to Crestview

A south Florida company that overhauls and repairs turboprop aircraft engines is moving to Crestview.

North American Turbines officials say it's making the move from Opa-locka in part because of aging facilities at its present site and difficulty obtaining permits to replace them.

President Richard Walser says they're moving within two years and will create 188 jobs.

Other factors include room for expansion and being closer to military customers at Northwest Florida bases.

It's expected to take 18 months to two years to obtain a site and construct a building at the Okaloosa County Industrial Air Park.

It will join two other companies including Aerospace Integration and Crestview Aerospace that do aircraft repair work for the military.
