St. Andrew’s extensive waterfront is highly valued development land.
Panama City Mayor Gerry Clemons wants to do something to improve the overall appearance of the area. Clemons wants to explore the possibility of burying St. Andrew utilities underground.
The city just renovated a large section of Beck Avenue through the middle of the St. Andrew business district.
Clemons believes moving the utilities below ground is the next logical step to improving the area's appearance.
“On Harrison Avenue downtown there are no wires hanging across the street. All the utilities have been placed underground. It really makes it a much more attractive street and I'd like to investigate the possibility doing the same thing in the St. Andrews area."
Clemons says he'd eventually like to see all of the city's utilities moved underground.
