Pair Charged With a Half Million Dollar School Fire

Two students have been charged with vandalism and arson in a fire that closed a Pensacola school for two days.

One of the boys is a 15-year-old eighth grader at the school, Brownsville Academy of Arts and Sciences, which closed Monday and Tuesday.

The other boy is a Woodham High School ninth grader.

Both were charged Thursday with first-degree arson, burglary with damage in excess of $100,000 and grand theft.

The fire and vandalism early Monday caused $500,000 in damage to the school's classrooms, musical instruments and other school equipment and facilities.
