Monday night's rough weather caught some area boaters off guard.
Coast Guard units from Panama City and Carrabelle pulled three people off of a sinking boat off the coast from Alligator Point in Franklin County.
The three were trying to make their way into Dog Island Sound about 9:30 Monday night. They were on board a 25-foot sport fisher named the Hermit Crab.
The high seas disoriented the captain and made his passengers sick. As two Coast Guard crew members were administering first aid, the boat began sinking quickly.
All five abandoned the vessel and let it sink. No one was seriously hurt.
