Bay Haven Lottery Delayed

The parents of more than 700 Bay County students who want their children to attend Bay Haven Charter Academy for the first time this fall will have to wait a few more weeks for the much anticipated lottery.

The random drawing of names to fill open slots at the Panama City school was originally scheduled for Saturday but has been postponed until after spring break.

Bay Haven Principal Dr. Tim Kitts says he's waiting for the Florida state Legislature and the Department of Education to iron out the details of legislation passed last summer that greatly affects Bay Haven procedures.

Dr. Kitts wants to make sure the difference of opinion between the two governmental bodies is settled before conducting the lottery.
