Panama City Height Limit Proposal Clears Another Hurdle

Panama City commissioners have given their preliminary approval to a height limit for any new buildings.

The general commercial zoning limit will be 120 feet, with some exceptions. The restrictions passed by a 3 to 2 vote.

Mayor Gerry Clemons and Commissioner Kathryn Hanline voted against the plan, supporting a 65 foot limit instead.

The commission will make a final decision during a public hearing in two weeks.

Meanwhile, commissioners did not take any action on an adult entertainment proposal, but made it clear any new ordinance will not create a so-called red light district.
