Beach Police Enforce Surfing Laws

Some local residents enjoying the sun and surf this week found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Panama City Beach police cracked down on surfers getting too close to city pier.

The pier has signs posted on both sides reminding surfers to keep 400 feet between themselves and the pier.

Officers arrested three people, saying they refused to come back to shore or move away from the pier after being asked several times.

But those out in the waves say they had to fight a strong rip current to get back in and that's why it took so long.
