Savannah, the arson dog, retired Thursday from the Northwest Florida Bureau of Fire and Arson.

For the last seven years, Savannah's used her nose to help solve arson cases, but she’s not getting out of the business entirely.

The South Walton Fire Department is adopting Savannah as its mascot.

Tommy Barron, State Fire Marshal Detective, says, "It's a sad day that she's retiring, but it’s a good day for her because she actually gets to be a yard dog, so to speak, for a while. She can lay around all day and she don't have to work, so it'll be good for her."

Barron will travel to Maine later this month to train with his new canine partner Amy.
