High-Rise Sends Off Smoke and Flames

Motorists on the Hathaway Bridge couldn't help but notice. Some even pulled over to watch as large amounts of smoke billowed out of a Panama City Beach condo under construction Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters from three local departments responded around 4:30 p.m. to a 12-story high-rise on Bridgewater Way. That's in the Wildwood area of Panama City Beach.

Investigators say the plastic trash chute in the building and a dumpster caught fire, but they have not determined why.

Construction crews were there at the time of the blaze.
