Officials in Destin think they may have finally found the body of a missing Georgia fisherman.
A state pilot for the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spotted what is believed to be the body of 46-year-old Dennis Herring of Riverdale, GA in the Gulf of Mexico.
Herring was one of two Georgia men who went missing last week in some rough water. The body was located around 10:30 Friday morning about 23 miles south of Destin in the Gulf.
The body was recovered by officers and returned to shore for positive identification and autopsy.
Herring was a passenger in a 25 foot fishing boat, which was swamped and overturned by rough seas on April 7. The body of the boat's owner, Julian Lee of Fayetteville, GA, was found the next day some eight miles southwest of Destin.
Neither man was wearing a life jacket.
